Why I Picked up the camera...

I’ve been drawn to cameras for as long as I can remember. The first time I picked up a camera was for my yearbook class in high school 6 years ago. Photography took on a deeper meaning to me when I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I brought a little Polaroid Snap camera to my treatment sessions. I documented the process, not realizing then the power that those photos told and how much they would inspire me to keep pushing to do better!

Those images eventually became a documentary project meant to show younger patients that cancer doesn’t define your creativity or your future. That experience changed how I see photography and storytelling. It showed me the power of a camera as a tool! Sometimes photos aren’t just images; they’re proof that we got through something and memories that will last a lifetime.

Where I Am today!

I graduated from McDowell Technical Community College with an Associate’s in Photographic Technology, and I have pursued a B.F.A. in Film & Television Production at Western Carolina University. Studying cinematography and editing has shaped how I shoot everything from portraits to weddings to my documentary work.

At the end of the day, I’m happiest with a camera in my hands.

Why DO I Do This?

Photography helped me survive hard realities and celebrate successes, and now it helps me connect with other people in meaningful ways . I want to pass this gift of documenting down to my clients. I want my work to make people feel seen. Whether it’s a wedding, a creative portrait, or a candid session, I’m here to tell your story with the same care I gave my own.

What do you do when you are not shooting?

When I'm not behind the camera, you'll probably find me exploring Western North Carolina like Asheville and Cullowhee with my camera in hand, editing photos with an iced cup of coffee, spending time with my boyfriend, Cade, or watching my favorite movies and T.V shows. They always inspire me to shoot things in different ways!

What is your favorite type of photography to shoot?

Street photography is one of my favorite forms of photography because no two moments are ever the same. I love slowing down, observing the world around me, and waiting for that decisive moment when everything aligns. Whether I'm walking through Asheville or exploring a new city, I'm always inspired by the people, the architecture, and the little moments that tell the story of a place.

How did filmmaking change the way I photograph?

Filmmaking challenged me to think differently about storytelling. It taught me how every frame, every angle, and every detail can shape the emotion of a scene and the story I am telling. I pay closer attention to light, movement, and the moments between the obvious ones. I carry that mindset into my photography by creating images that tell a story instead of simply documenting an event.
